This superb original colour lithograph comes from the set of twenty-four colour lithographs that Chagall designed for the book “Dessins pour la Bible”, published by Verve in 1960 . Chagall was a naturalised Frenchman, but a Russian born artist, designer, sculptor, ceramacist and graphic artist. His wonderfully expressive colourist technique combined with his folkloric imagery made him one of the greatest artists of the 20th. Century, and certainly one of the most sought after. His style hardly changed throughout his long career. The works in “Dessins” are typical of his ouvre.
