Max Ernst was a German born painter, sculptor and graphic artist. He founded the Cologne Dada art movement before moving to Paris and becoming one of the leading surrealists. Ernst used a special method of taking rubbings from textured surfaces to create a unique printing technique. From the Prompte portfolio of 1969, from an edition of 70.
